T-Slide or Concealed: Which Door Closer Fits Your Design Brief?
2026-10-19
Choose YEN T-Slide when a visible closer body with a slide channel arm suits the design and the door meets its listed 65 kg capacity. Consider YEN Concealed when the brief calls for the closer body to sit inside the door, subject to confirmed fitting details; its listed capacity is 100 kg. For architects, the decision needs both an appearance brief and a checked door detail. A clean-looking elevation alone does not confirm that either model will fit.
What should the closer look like when the door is closed?
Start by deciding whether the closer body can remain on view. T-Slide is described as a sleek model with a smart slide channel arm. Its body and channel should be considered together when reviewing the door elevation.

View the full Floor Spring Accessories range →For Concealed, ask to see the proposed installation detail and what remains visible with the door open and closed. Specify the intended appearance without treating the product name as a promise that every part will disappear from every viewing angle.
A useful design brief records the door reference, whether a visible body is acceptable, and the finish to be confirmed. That gives the supplier a clearer question than asking for the smallest-looking closer.
How do the current product specifications compare?
The Designer Door Closers range lists the following model-specific details:
| Detail | YEN T-Slide | YEN Concealed |
|---|---|---|
| Capacity | 65 kg | 100 kg |
| Body dimensions, as listed | 225 x 55 x 45 | 230 x 30 x 60 |
| Channel dimensions, as listed | 350 x 25 | 30 x 450 |
| Speed control | Double speed control | Double speed control |
| Finish description | Available in seven finishes | Metallic painted |
Keep the dimension strings with their component names. Ask for a current fitting drawing to confirm units, orientation, clearances and fixing positions before using them in a joinery detail. A body size is not a complete installation envelope.
Capacity is a separate check from appearance. Record the actual door weight and ask for suitability confirmation for that door. Concealed's higher listed capacity does not make it a direct replacement for T-Slide or establish that the two share installation requirements.
What needs checking before the door detail is approved?
YEN's Concealed feature list says the closer is only 32 mm wide and can be installed in a 40 mm door. Its separate body-dimension entry reads 230 x 30 x 60. Ask the supplier to clarify those measurements on the fitting drawing before approving any recess or cutting detail. Do not turn the 40 mm door statement into a universal instruction for every door construction.

For T-Slide, review the body, arm and channel together against the proposed door and frame. Ask the installer to confirm the fixing arrangement and the space needed through the intended opening movement.
Record any unresolved fitting question against the door reference. Obtain confirmation before the joinery is made or altered, rather than allowing an appearance preference to stand in for fitting approval.
Which finish should appear on the specification?
T-Slide's current listing states that seven finishes are available but does not name them individually. Request the current options and confirm the selected finish against a sample or approved reference. Do not transfer a colour name from another YEN model.
Concealed is listed as Metallic painted. If visible parts must coordinate with adjacent hardware, ask which surfaces the finish description covers and review them in the proposed installation.
How can architects avoid ordering the wrong Concealed product?
Use the category and model together: “YEN Designer Door Closers, Concealed.” YEN also lists a product named Concealed in its Designer Door Springs category. That spring has a separate description, including suitability for doors up to 40 kg. It is a different product from the 100 kg Concealed door closer compared here.
Before issuing the hardware schedule, record the exact category and model, door weight and thickness, approved fitting drawing and confirmed finish. T-Slide can then be assessed for a visible slide-channel design, and Concealed for a body housed within the door, with the selected model checked against the actual door detail.
