Frequently asked questions

A door spring is a simpler mechanism than a full closer, usually just a coiled spring inside a housing, like YEN's Capsule Door Closer or Helix, both with an adjustable spring strength. A closer, like the Era or T-Slide, adds a hydraulic cylinder for controlled, two-speed closing. Springs suit lighter doors; the Concealed model, rated up to 40kg with a lifetime-guaranteed spring, is at the heavier end of what a spring alone handles.

The Capsule-Slikr, an anodised aluminium section, and Smart-o-matic, a heavier M.S body, are both rated for doors up to 20kg, which covers most lightweight interior doors. Both have an adjustable spring strength, so the closing force can be tuned to the actual door weight rather than left too strong or too weak.

The Concealed model sits inside the door itself, using S.S. 304 stainless steel fore-end plates, so nothing is visible once the door is shut. It's rated for doors up to 40kg and comes with a lifetime-guaranteed spring, which matters more on a concealed unit since replacing it later means opening up the door again.
