The Early Years (1966-1989): Starting Strong

Back in the 1960s, India wanted to make more things at home instead of buying from other countries. It was a tough time for manufacturing, with limited machines and materials to work with. But in 1966, S.N. Industries started YEN Door Closer. Our goal was simple: make strong door closers in India that were as good as foreign ones.

Our first door closers were made of solid cast iron with springs inside. They were tough and built to last, perfect for busy places like government offices, schools, and hospitals. Making them perfect was hard, because machines weren’t very advanced then. But our founder had a smart idea in 1966. They made special tools to keep every door closer the same. Most other makers still built things by hand. Our tools set us apart.

These door closers showed India could make great things. They went into many important buildings, and some are still working today! That’s how good they were.

Growing Better (1990-2009): Learning from the World

In 1991, India opened up to the world. Foreign companies came in, and we had to step up. It was a challenge, but also a chance to grow. We started making hydraulic door closers, ones that use liquid to control how doors close. This made them smoother and better than the old spring ones.

Our hydraulic door closers close doors in two steps: fast at first, then slow at the end. This stops doors from banging shut or closing too slowly. We built high-end models like T-Slide and Concealed, which offer some of our best finishes and long-lasting performance. Our Designer Door Springs, including the Capsule-Iron Body series, were among the first to use this technology. They were still super strong.

We also started testing our door closers a lot. We tested them 200,000 times, which is like using them for 50 years! We learned this from other countries, to make sure our quality was top-notch. Then, we began selling to places like the Middle East. It’s hot there, so we made special liquids to keep our door closers working well, from -20°C to 45°C.

Buildings started looking fancier, so we made our door closers sleeker with more colors, not just silver and gold. Soon, our door closers were in luxury hotels and big factories, not just regular buildings.

The Modern Era (2010-Now): Style and Strength Together

The last 10 years have been exciting! People now want door closers that look good and work great. We’ve used new machines and ideas to make this happen. Our T-SLIDE collection comes in seven cool finishes like Matt Black and Rose Gold. They fit perfectly in modern buildings and still meet our high standards.

We fixed old problems too, like oil leaks. Now, our door closers don’t leak, thanks to special seals. Plus, most have double speed control, so you can set how fast the door closes. Our CONCEALED model is super thin (only 30mm wide) and fits in 40mm doors for a clean look.

We use computers to design and make door closers super precisely. Our best models are now tested for up to 300,000 cycles, meaning they last decades in busy places. Our hard work has won us awards like the NBT Times Group Business Icons and Udyog Ratan.

Today, we sell to countries like the USA and UAE, meeting their tough rules. It shows how far Indian manufacturing has come.

Looking Ahead: What’s Next for YEN DOOR CLOSER

For the next 60 years, we’ll keep making top-quality door closers while trying new things. We’re working on eco-friendly materials to help the planet. We might even add smart technology so door closers can talk to building systems, telling you when they need fixing!

Architects want custom door closers, and we’re ready to make them. Indian designs are getting famous worldwide, and we’ll help by creating door hardware that looks and works amazing. We’re also growing in more countries. We’re learning what each place needs, like heat-proof closers for the Middle East, or ones that meet Europe’s strict rules.
