How Should Gulf Buyers Approve Door Hardware Finishes Before Ordering?
2026-10-14
Gulf buyers should approve door hardware finishes against physical samples of the exact products being ordered, viewed beside the intended door material. Record the model, finish name and approved sample reference in the order. Confirm availability before placing a bulk order, and ask the supplier how the delivered hardware will be checked against that reference.
For a Gulf-region project, a request such as "gold hardware throughout" leaves several decisions open. Which gold finish? On which closer or hinge? Should the visible parts match closely or simply sit comfortably together? Answer those questions before a finish description becomes an order instruction.

Check each model individually. YEN lists Era and Trax door closers in Silver and Gold. Kapsa is listed in Metallic. The S.S. Hinges and S.S Ball Bearing Hinges list SS Brushed, Gold Antique and Matt Black.
Gold on a closer and Gold Antique on a hinge are different catalogue descriptions. Do not record both as an unspecified gold finish or assume they will look identical. Ask to see the proposed products together before approving the combination.
T-Slide's published data states that seven finishes are available without naming them individually. Ask for the current options for that model rather than transferring a finish name from another product. A finish listed for one closer is not confirmation that it is available on the rest of the range.
What should a physical finish review include?
Ask whether samples of the proposed products can be supplied or viewed, and confirm any arrangements before relying on them. Compare the hardware with the actual door-material sample wherever possible. A photograph is useful for discussion, but ask for a physical review before treating an image as the final colour reference.
For example, place Silver and Gold Era samples beside the project's wooden door finish. Compare the visible closer body and arm as a complete item. If a hinge will also be visible, review that proposed hinge beside the closer rather than approving each from separate photographs.
Use the lighting intended for the space when a suitable review location is available. Look at the combination from the positions where people will see the door. The decision is whether the proposed finishes meet the project's visual brief, not whether every metal surface carries the same catalogue name.
Who should approve the finish combination?
Agree who has authority to approve the appearance before the importer or project supplier places the order. That may be the buyer, architect or another person named by the project team. Record their decision against the actual products reviewed.

Keep a reference photograph of the selected combination and identify the physical samples used. If approval is still pending, mark it as pending. A quotation containing a finish name should not be treated as a recorded visual approval unless the responsible person has confirmed it.
What should the written approval record say?
Keep a separate line for each product. Include the model name, exact finish description, quantity, door group or room reference, and the sample reference used for approval. Record who approved the finish and when.
An Era closer in Gold and an S.S. hinge in Gold Antique should remain separate entries even when they serve the same door. If a model or finish changes after review, request approval for the revised item before accepting the substitution.
Keep appearance approval alongside the other product decisions. A selected finish does not confirm the door weight capacity, fitting arrangement or any project-specific performance requirement. Those still need checking for the exact hardware proposed.
What should Gulf buyers check when the hardware arrives?
Before installation, compare the delivered model and stated finish with the order and the retained approval reference. Ask the supplier in advance what to do if the finish appears different, and report any discrepancy with photographs and the relevant order line.
For a YEN enquiry, send the proposed model list and the door finishes you want to coordinate through the enquiry form. Ask which finish options and sample arrangements are available for those products. A precise finish record gives the buyer, supplier and installer a shared reference for the same Gulf-region order.
